Life Reflections
Jefferson Davis Herring, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025. Jefferson was born on September 20, 1941 in Greensboro, NC, to the late Hanson Herring and Beatice Cowan Herring. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
Jefferson graduated from Greensboro Public Schools and continued his education at Tuskegee University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He played tennis at Tuskegee and afterwards. He enjoyed playing golf; which he did until his death.
He began his career at Dow Chemical where he worked for 3 years as a Chemist. Following these years, he joined WR Grace and Company in Baltimore, MD and later continued with the company in Chattanooga, TN. He was Sales and Marketing Manager for over 40 years. Throughout Jefferson’s career he won the trust, respect, and admiration of both his superiors and fellow workers.
Jefferson was with Kingdom Partners, a non-profit all about the kingdom of God, during the last seven years of his life .During that time he served as Senior Advisor.
Jefferson joined Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church in 2014 where he was regular in attendance, faithful, and very supportive in whatever way needed. He also served in the Brotherhood ministry.
He leaves to cherish precious memories; Essie F. Guthrie Herring; sons, Jefferson Douglas Herring MD (Michelle Kanter MD) Herring and Richard Daniel Herring; grandsons, Jacob Daniel Herring and Joshua Miles Herring; brother, Richard Lewis Hanson Herring; a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
